Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents named her Winona for her home town. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder believes she is Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. The actress has a younger brother Uria and half-siblings Jubal as well as Sunyata. Ryder and her family moved to California's Mendocino County, when Ryder was just seven. There was no electricity. Ryder, who read a lot aged 12 became a book worm since Ryder had no access to television. Ryder was 12 when she was enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. Ryder landed her first film role on the large screen in 1986 at the age of 15 older. Ryder faced bullying in high school. Her thought was that by becoming an actor, her behavior could be reduced. However, the plan didn't pan out. But she pushed on with her dreams. Her biggest break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder kept playing successful roles in various films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her performance on The Age of Innocence (1993).
