Reese Witherspoon started seriously pursuing an acting career when she enrolled in Stanford University. Early successes were with films like Pleasantville, Election and Legally Blonde. It was her portrayal in the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde's big-budget smash that truly marked the beginning of her acting career.
